May is around the corner and a link for summer lessons!

Hello band and orchestra students and parents,

May is right around the corner and we have our first marching practice for all band members tomorrow at 7:15 a.m.! 

1. This Friday and Friday, May 10 are early orchestra rehearsals for all orchestra members at 7 a.m. at HCHS in the band/orchestra room.

2. Tulip Time is just around the corner. Here is your important information about marching in the parades. Uniforms will be handed out on Monday, May 6.

3. The jazz orchestra and chamber orchestra will perform at a combined area HS concert called Dazzle at Central Wesleyan Church on Tuesday, May 7 at 8:00 p.m. Jazz orchestra and chamber orchestra call time is 8:00 p.m.

4. You are invited to join the Holland Christian School Orchestras in the Jack H. Miller Center for the Musical Arts (221 Columbia Ave, Holland, MI 49423) on Tuesday, May 14 at 7:00 pm. This concert will feature a musical variety including music from the movie Up, Sibelius's Finlandia, Grieg's Peer Gynt Suite, and the music of Coldplay. See the wonderful progression from 4th to high school orchestras, a beautiful picture of education at Holland Christian.

5. Join the Holland Christian High School Bands as they present their Spring Concert on Thursday, May 16 at 7:30 p.m. at the Jack H. Miller Center for the Musical Arts (221 Columbia Ave, Holland, MI 49423). Enjoy jazz music, the Holland Christian drumline, the sounds of the movie Raider's of the Lost Ark, Star Wars, the music of Tchaikovsky and Carl Orff's Carmina Burana and a tribute to our seniors.

Great work yesterday and Marching Info!

Dear band and orchestra students and parents,

I hope you are feeling back in the rhythm of things after spring break. Here are some important announcements and reminders. Hard to believe we are thinking about marching with snow outside. :)

1. Great work yesterday orchestra!

2. Early marching begins on Tuesday for 9th graders and those new to marching at HCHS. All grades of band members will be marching starting on Tuesday, April 23. Important information on marching linked here. 

We will be in the gym for this first week.

3. Band and orchestra members interested in auditioning for the Holland Area Youth Orchestra at HCHS on Monday, April 22 during their class periods should let Mr. VB know a.s.a.p.

4.The jazz orchestra and chamber orchestra will perform at a combined area HS concert called Dazzle at Central Wesleyan Church on Tuesday, May 7 at 8:00 p.m. Jazz orchestra call time is 7:30 p.m. and chamber orchestra call time is 8:00 p.m. There will be rehearsals during the school day.

5. Congratulations to Matt Dykstra who was chosen to be part of the Michigan Youth Arts Festival Band as a result of his scores at the Michigan Band and Orchestra Association State Solo and Ensemble Festival. Matt will be performing with other of the top trombone players from the state of Michigan. Congratulations Matt!
