Hello band and orchestra students and parents,
I am looking forward to celebrating senior graduation tonight. It has been a difficult year, but through it all I feel thankful and blessed to work with the young musicians of HCS.
1. Please double check your houses for any music, instruments, mutes, uniform parts and be sure that all of it is brought to school.
2. Please turn in your band/orchestra uniform during these times:
Wednesday, May 26 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Thursday, May 27 from 7:45 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
Concert Uniforms
-Tuxes need to have the pants, jacket, vest, shirt, tie
-Dresses
3. Did you know that symphonic band members can play with the Holland American Legion Band this summer? This community band gives concerts in Kollen Park every Tuesday evening and students can join in with little or no notice. The rehearsal immediately precedes the concert. It is loads of fun, more information is linked here.
4. Just a reminder that next year's calendar of band and orchestra activities is already in place for you to check out and plan ahead. If you would like, you can simply subscribe to the calendar.
5. Sign up for summer lessons! For more info follow this link.
6. I wanted to pass along some advanced scheduling information for 2022. We are planning a trip for our concert band, symphonic band, and orchestra to Florida with performances at Disney World and so excited! After so many delays and cancellations this will be a great way to cap off this next school year.
We will hang out in the parks, perform on the Disney Concert Stage, and take part in a workshop where we will record portions of a Disney soundtrack synced to a Disney movie.
We are planning on departing Holland on Wednesday, March 30 and wrapping up our trip with a worship service on Sunday, April 5 and a return trip arriving back in Holland on Monday, April 4. Some families travel to Florida and have their children stay with them at the end of the trip rather than ride the charter bus back to Holland, MI. We have lots more info to come and the trip is not required, but thought it might be nice to pencil in the date on your calendars.
Thank you!
