Florida stuff, Orchestra festival, and Overdue fee reminders!

Dear band and orchestra students and parents,

Overdue fee reminders.....that is not a very exciting title to add to our post this week. :)
Nonetheless, I hope you are doing well and looking forward to an exciting March!

1. Our trip to Florida is not far away. Please fill out this form including insurance and medical information for each student going on this trip . Please fill out this parent/student consent form and put it in the turn in envelope on my door by Friday, February 18.

2. Are you planning to meet your child in Florida and not have them ride the bus back to HCHS? Please fill out this form if this is your plan for this spring break.

3. We will be getting a t-shirt for our Florida trip for all students and chaperons. The cost is included in your cost of the trip. Please fill out this form to indicate the size of t-shirt you would like. If you were unable to make our Florida trip this year, but would like a shirt you may also fill this form out.

4. The orchestra performs at the MSBOA Orchestra Festival at West Ottawa Harbor Lights Middle School at 4:10 p.m. on Thursday, March 3. Parents are invited to attend. The students will play for judges and then receive a clinic on their performance. We are taking a school bus to the performance. We will leave HCHS just before the end of the school day. After our performance students can get picked up from the PAC at 5:00 p.m. or meet us back at HCHS at 5:30 p.m. Parents, please send me an email if you would like your child to drive to this performance.

5. Because the orchestra is at the festival I am unable to do parent/teacher conferences on March 3. Please connect with me via email or phone if you would like to meet.
cell: 616.212.8867, svandenberg@hollandchristian.org

6. In order to help orchestra prepare for our festival performance we will have two extra rehearsals. Please make every effort to not miss any rehearsals between now and March 3 and also for these two special rehearsals.
Friday, February 25 at 7:00 a.m.
Monday, February 28 during Family Flex

7. Back in October we posted a notice about uniform and instrument fees and we still have quite a few outstanding. If you haven't already, please send in your check made out the HCHS with uniform or instrument fee in the memo line. If you have questions please reach out to Janet Jenosky. jjenosky@charter.net

*Each fall band and orchestra students are assessed a uniform fee that covers uniform alterations, repairs, marching shoes and gloves, and dry cleaning. (The shoes and gloves are for band marching uniforms only.) This fee will be due by Friday, October 15. It is $15 for orchestra and $25 for band. Please communicate with me if you are in need of financial assistance. Please designate uniform fee in the memo line of the check. This fee can be mailed to HCHS or placed in the designated envelope in the band/orchestra room.
Additional notes:
-Brass, woodwind, and percussion members of the symphonic orchestra only need to pay the band uniform fee, not both.

*Each fall students who are using a school-owned instrument are assessed a rental fee of $60 for the year. This fee covers a portion of the cost of repairs and maintenance. Students who switch instruments to help with the balance of the band or orchestra are given a waiver on this fee. Those checks are due on Friday, October 15. Please communicate with me if you are in need of financial assistance. Please designate instrument rental in the memo line of the check. This fee can be mailed to HCHS or dropped in the designated envelope in the band/orchestra room.

Thank you!
Mr. VB
