Solo and Ensemble and Band and Orchestra Festivals!

 Hello band and orchestra students and parents,

I hope you are doing well! The groups are making such great progress on our music. Here are the upcoming events for band and orchestra students!

1. Monday, January 30 - Solo and Ensemble Recital Night

You are all invited to see some of the excellent HCHS musical talent. Here is the schedule of events for this evening. These groups will perform in the band/orchestra and choir rooms and also be given comments by a judge.

2. Saturday, February 4 - MSBOA Solo and Ensemble Festival Here is the schedule of events.  Parents are invited to watch their student's performance.

3. Wednesday, March 1 - HCHS Symphonic Band performs at festival

9:30 a.m. dismiss from class to put on concert uniform

10:00 a.m. bus leaves HCHS

10:20 a.m. unload at West Ottawa Harbor Lights Middle School Auditorium

10:50 a.m. enter warm up room

11:10 a.m. set up stage

11:20 a.m. perform for judges

11:50 a.m. sight reading evaluation

12:20 p.m. head home and stop for fast food on way home

back in class by 1:15 p.m.

4. Thursday, March 2 - HCHS Orchestra performs at Festival

9:25 a.m. dismiss from class to put on concert uniform

9:55 a.m. bus leaves HCHS

10:15 a.m. unload at West Ottawa Harbor Lights Middle School Auditorium

10:30 a.m. enter warm up room

11:00 a.m. set up stage

11:10 a.m. perform for judges

11:40 a.m. sight reading evaluation

12:10 p.m. head home and stop for fast food on way home

back in class by 1:15 p.m.

5. The HCHS band and orchestra are headed to perform and enjoy Florida in the spring of 2024. Would you be interested in being part of this parent planning group? We would love your input and assistance. Email me if you are interested!

Solo/Ensemble Prep and Pep Band!

 Hello band and orchestra students and parents,

I hope you are doing well, it is exciting to be diving into new music.

1. You are invited to HCHS's recital night to watch our fine band/orchestra students perform in solos, duets, trios, quartets, and quintets on Monday, January 30 between 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. Here is the schedule so far. 

2. Here is the schedule of solo/ensemble meetings/practices during exam week.

3. I wanted to give you a quick reminder about next Friday's pep band. In case you missed the Nov. 27 post. Here are our pep band dates again.

The pep band is planning to play for these home basketball games. All band students should plan to attend. The game is at the Civic Center (150 W 8th St, Holland, MI 49423). We play at halftime of the girls game, in between games, and at halftime of the guys game. 

Friday, January 13 at 6:30 p.m. at the Civic Center (Spring Lake)

Friday, January 20 at 6:30 p.m. at the Civic Center (Unity Christian)

Friday, February 3 at 6:30 p.m. at the Civic Center (Fruitport)

Friday, February 24 at 6:30 p.m. at the Civic Center (West Catholic)

4. The symphonic band and orchestra are preparing for the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Festival which will happen in the end of February/beginning of March. We don't have dates/times for the performances yet, but they often happen during the school day. I will let you know as soon as the schedule is complete. This is a great chance for us to get feedback on the progress we are making as musicians.
