More Snow Days! 😬

Dear band and orchestra students and parents,

I hope you are doing well and enjoying the snow day. Stay safe out there! Sometimes when there are snow days this time of year, band/orchestra directors are the only ones who cry out, "Noooooo!" :)

In order to help us prepare for next week and for symphonic band and orchestra's festival performances, here are a couple additions:

1. I will post a few playing assignments on google classrooom due this weekend. We need the music fresh in our brain so that when we work to put this together all of our brain power can be focused on how we sound as an ensemble and how our parts fit together.

2. Monday morning at 7:10 a.m. symphonic band will have a rehearsal in the band/orchestra room. Please be in the room ready to play at 7:10 a.m. and yes, we need you all there. :)

3. Tuesday morning at 7:10 a.m. orchestra will have an early rehearsal in the band/orchestra room. Please be in the room ready to play at 7:10 a.m. and yes, we need you all there. :)

4. We will need to cancel pep band on Friday because I am traveling to a funeral.

5. Finally, Mr. Nester will be leading the orchestra rehearsal for me on Friday because I need to be at a funeral. Mr. Nester and I have been consulting so that the Friday rehearsal can be very productive. He is an expert at this.

Thank you!
Mr. VB

Happy Snow Day!

Hello band and orchestra students and parents,

I hope you are doing well, happy snow day!

1. Do you need to pick up your instrument to complete a playing test, to work on state solo/ensemble music, or to practice for upcoming festival performances?
I will be at school on Saturday from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and you can stop by to pick up your instrument at that time (band/orchestra room door will be propped open). You can also pick up your instrument on Monday as the doors will be open all morning because of teacher activities.

2. Parents, would you be willing to join us for our Band and Orchestra Festival experiences? We need 1 or 2 parent volunteers to ride the bus with each of these groups......the HCHS symphonic band on March 1 and HCHS orchestra on March 2. Check out the last blog entry for timing for these dates. Volunteers would walk with kids and be present in case a need arises. Email me if you are able to help out! All parents are invited to view festival performances and also invited to the sight reading room.

3. With symphonic band and orchestra festival performances very close it is crucial to have every student in class every day to prepare for these performances. As always, when near a performance a lot of our time is spend trying to blend and match parts together and this is difficult when someone is missing. Each member is important!

4. The parent planning group for next year's Florida trip will meet again on Thursday, April 13 in the HCHS band/orchestra room. Please join us if you are interested in helping plan for next year's trip.

5. State Solo and Ensemble Festival is on Saturday, March 18 at Whitehall HS. So proud of our hard working students!

Thank you,
Mr. VB
