Graduation and End of Year Wrap Up

 Hello band and orchestra students and parents,

What a great week of concerts it was last week and what a joy to attend graduation last night. It has been a joy to work with you all!

Here are some new information and a few reminders

1. Students should turn in all uniform parts and accessories in their appropriately labeled uniform bag and/or hat box. Marching band uniforms will be turned in after the Memorial Day Parade. There will be a uniform rack and table set up by trophy cases (where Mrs. Redder usually does uniform work) for you to turn in your uniforms. Everything must be turned in by the end of the day Tuesday, May 30.

2. It is an important act of service we can do for our community to help make the Memorial Day parade a success to highlight the importance of remembering those who lost their lives for our country. Here is the information for the Memorial Day Parade.

3. Check out some great pictures that Mrs. Hollebeek took from our band concert on Thursday.

4. Do you have a school owned instrument? Please check in with Mr. Vanden Berg about whether you would like to keep this at home to practice this summer or if you are planning to turn it in. Seniors, do you have anything that is owned by HC? mutes, music, instruments, uniform parts

5. Sign up for summer lessons here! Summer is a great time to improve your musical skills! There are so many details and instrument specific things that we can cover in summer lessons that are tricky to get to in a full band or orchestra setting. We can also help you prepare for solo and ensemble festival or scholarship auditions or learn a new instrument!

6. Here is information on the Holland American Legion Band Concerts. This band is a community band that welcomes students to play in its summer concerts. You are invited! This group will probably be a best fit for upperclassmen. Anyone is welcome to attend the concerts as an audience member in Kollen Park on Tuesdays at 7:30 p.m.

Busy week of Concerts and Senior Celebrations!

 Hello band and orchestra parents,

We are looking forward to a week of concerts and last days for our seniors!

1. Parents and/or grandparents, here are some areas we could use your help:

2. Tuesday morning by 8:00 a.m. all HCHS orchestra students will need to be dropped off at the Jack H. Miller Center for the Musical Arts for orchestra rehearsal. The building will be open by 7:00 a.m. and I will be there if anyone needs to do an early drop off. We will have a bus to bring students back to HCHS after rehearsal. Students will be back at school by 10:00 a.m. 

The orchestra concert on Tuesday starts at 7:00 p.m. HCHS orchestra students should plan to be at the Jack H. Miller by 6:45 p.m. We will warm up backstage. Check in with me on Monday if you are coming from another event and are sliding in at the last minute.

3. The band concert on Thursday starts at 8:00 p.m., students should plan to be at the Jack H. Miller by 7:30 p.m.

4. Jazz Orchestra will meet tomorrow (Monday) morning at 7:10 a.m.!

5. There will be a box at the Jack H. Miller Center for the Musical Arts for all students to turn their music folders in after the concert. Please have all personal music removed from your folder.

May is here!

 Dear band and orchestra students and parents,

1. Here is the parade information for next week!  Take a minute to read this through and so that you are sure that you are prepared.

2. Band students, this is a quick reminder that if you have your marching shoes at home from last year (if you were in band at HCS last year) please be sure to locate them and try them on to make sure they fit. Your uniforms will be available and hanging on the rack outside the band/orchestra room next week for you to take home. Shoes and hat boxes will be set out on the table with your name on them.

A special thank you to volunteer Carol Redder who does all of the work on uniforms.

3. We are going to adjust the start time of the Thursday, May 18 band concert to 8:00 p.m. to accommodate students who will be coming from athletic events.

Holland Christian Spring All Orchestra Concert
You are invited to join the Holland Christian School Orchestras in the Jack H. Miller Center for the Musical Arts on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. See the wonderful progression from 4th to high school orchestras, a beautiful picture of education at Holland Christian.

Holland Christian Spring Band Concert
Join the Holland Christian High School Bands as they present their Spring Concert on Thursday, May 18, 2023 at 8:00 p.m. at the Jack H. Miller Center for the Musical Arts. Enjoy jazz music, the Holland Christian drumline, the HCHS bands, and a tribute to our seniors. 

5. Have you checked out the Tulip Lanes that you planted last fall at Kollen Park and on 12^th and Washington Blvd.? They are blooming and looking beautiful!
