Last items for 2023-24!

 Dear band and orchestra students and parents,

What a blessing to make music with you all this week! Thank you for an excellent year! We are nearly to the end. Here are the remaining items.

1. Students should turn in all uniform parts and accessories in their appropriately labeled uniform bag and/or hat box. Marching band uniforms will be turned in after the Memorial Day Parade. There is a uniform rack and table set up by trophy cases (where Mrs. Redder usually does uniform work) for you to turn in your uniforms. Everything must be turned in by the end of the day Tuesday, May 28.

2. It is an important act of service we can do for our community to help make the Memorial Day parade a success to highlight the importance of remembering those who lost their lives for our country. Here is the information for the Memorial Day Parade.

3. Check out some great pictures that Mrs. Hollebeek took from our orchestra concert!

4. Do you have a school owned instrument? Please check in with Mr. Vanden Berg about whether you would like to keep this at home to practice this summer or if you are planning to turn it in. Seniors, do you have anything that is owned by HC? mutes, music, instruments, uniform parts

5. Sign up for summer lessons here! Summer is a great time to improve your musical skills! There are so many details and instrument specific things that we can cover in summer lessons that are tricky to get to in a full band or orchestra setting. We can also help you prepare for solo and ensemble festival or scholarship auditions or learn a new instrument!

6. Here is information on the Holland American Legion Band Concerts. This band is a community band that welcomes students to play in its summer concerts. You are invited (I direct this group)! This group will probably be a best fit for upperclassmen. Anyone is welcome to attend the concerts as an audience member in Kollen Park on Tuesdays at 7:30 p.m.

Concert week!

Dear band and orchestra students,

Concert week is here! I am so proud of our HCHS band students and their Tulip Time performance!

1. Jazz Orchestra we have one more rehearsal on Monday at 7:10 a.m. in the HCHS band/orchestra room.

2. Call times for Monday evening's concert at the Jack H. Miller will be:

7:00 p.m. Jazz Orchestra

7:15 p.m. Symphonic Band

7:30 p.m. Concert Band

8:00 p.m. concert begins!

3. Orchestra students will meet at the Jack H. Miller Center for the Musical Arts for rehearsal on Tuesday at 8:00 a.m., we will have a bus to bring you back to HCHS.

4. Orchestra concert on Tuesday at the Jack H. Miller Center for the Musical Arts!

6:45 p.m. HS orchestra students arrive

7:00 p.m. concert begins (starting with 4th grade)

7:30ish p.m. HS orchestra on stage

5. Turn in all concert uniforms to school this week after our concerts. Guys, don't forget all parts including tie, vest, pants, shirt, jacket......

Busy week reminders

Dear band and orchestra students and parents,

I hope you are doing well!

1. Here is the run down for the week:

Tuesday - last early morning marching practice for the year (7:10 a.m.)

Wednesday - last jazz orchestra rehearsal for the year (7:30 a.m.)

Thursday - Tulip Time Parade 

Friday - last early symphonic orchestra rehearsal for the year (7:00 a.m.) (all strings included)

Saturday - Tulip Time Parade

2. We are looking forward to these concerts. Please sign up here to help with offering, handing out programs and welcoming our guests to these concerts.

Here comes May!

Dear band and orchestra students and parents,

I can't believe we are at this time of year! Here is your information for May.

1. Band members, please carefully read all Tulip Time Parade information here. Make sure you plan ahead, don't wait until the night before the parades. :)

2. Here are the upcoming concerts! Please note the time change for the Monday concert. This adjustment is to accommodate students who are in other activities.

HIGH SCHOOL SPRING BAND CONCERT - Join the HCHS bands as they present their Spring Concert on Monday, May 13, 2024 at 8:00 p.m. at the Jack H. Miller Center for the Musical Arts. Enjoy the concert and symphonic bands, jazz music, the Holland Christian drumline, and a tribute to our seniors.

HC SPRING ALL ORCHESTRA CONCERT - All Holland Christian School orchestras perform in the Hope College Jack H. Miller Center for the Musical Arts on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. See the wonderful progression from 4th to high school orchestras, a beautiful picture of education at Holland Christian.

3. In preparation for our orchestra concert we will need all orchestra students to attend an early rehearsal on Friday, May 10 from 7:00 a.m. to 7:50 a.m. in the band and orchestra room. Students who are taking an AP US History test on the 10th will be excused from this rehearsal.
