Here are a few dates for you to put on your calendar:

1. The band and orchestra kick-off is on Thursday, August 18, from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at Kollen Park near the band shell.

Check out Sign-up Genius if you can help bring chips, pop, cups, etc. Thank you for your generous help in making this happen!

Please also use this link if you know you can make it so we can get an estimate on how many will be able to attend.

2. We will have two practices scheduled before the school year begins, one for full orchestra and one for band. These rehearsals should leave plenty of time for check-in and your school photos.

-Monday, August 22 from 12:30 pm to 1:15 pm, concert band and symphonic band--combined pep band practice. We have a few new tunes and we play already for the Friday, Aug. 26 home game.

February Fun!

Hello band and orchestra students and parents,

February is right around the corner and I wanted to take a moment to highlight a few things. Additionally we have one somewhat major change that I would like to ask of concert band students and parents.

1. Pep Band tonight and Friday.

2. MSBOA Solo and Ensemble Festival is Saturday, January 30 at East Kentwood High School! These students are practicing very hard! Final specific info will be sent to you tomorrow.

3. Wanderers (folk ensemble) and Jazz Combo on Thursday, February 11 at Freedom Village 7:15 pm to 8:00 pm

4. Concert Band and Symphonic Band Concert and Clinic at the Jack Miller Center for the Musical Arts: 221 Columbia Avenue, HollandMI  49423  Thursday, February 18 7:30 to 8:30 pm

5. Symphonic Orchestra Clinic, Monday February 22 from 3:00 pm to 4:15 pm at HCHS.

6. MSBOA Band Festival for Symphonic Band will likely be during the school day on February 25
MSBOA Orchestra Festival for Symphonic Orchestra will likely be during the school day on February 26.
These will likely happen at West Ottawa PAC. No festival this year for concert band.

7. No concert band concert on February 29. I talked to concert band about the switch to Feb. 18 in class and they can tell you more. Please reply with conflicts to this change before Friday at 3 pm. This sort of late change is very rare and I apologize for any inconvenience.

Looking ahead to Florida:
We have made great progress on Florida trip fundraising and are planning a meeting for all Florida bound students and parents!

8. Tuesday, March 8 is Florida trip Student and Parent Meeting from 7 to 8 pm.

9. Are you planning to return on the bus or stay in Florida? If you are not returning on the bus please fill out this form by Friday, February 5. Contact Danielle Hilbelink at danielle@hilbelink.net if you have questions.
