Dear band and orchestra students and parents,
I hope you are doing well!
We are so excited to begin to share music with you in person. This human-to-human interaction is what brings us so much joy as musicians, and we have missed it. Attendees at these events will need to wear masks and maintain social distancing between family groups.
1. Monday evening (Feb. 22) is Solo & Ensemble recital night from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. Family members are invited to enjoy these in-person performances in the HCHS band/orchestra rooms and choir rooms. Students who are playing a solo or are in an ensemble have been signing up on this spreadsheet. We have 45 students taking part in the solo/ensemble festival this year!
2. We are planning to host a band concert with an in-person audience on Wednesday, March 24 at 8:00 p.m. in the HCHS gym. We will be following required safety protocols, which include limiting each student to 2 guests. We will also be live-streaming the concert.
*The 5th/6th bands will be performing at 6:00 p.m. and 7th/8th bands will be at 7:00 p.m.
3. We are planning to host an orchestra concert with an in-person audience on Saturday, April 17 at 7:00 p.m. with the location TBA. We will be following required safety protocols, which include limiting each student to 2 guests. We will also be live-streaming the concert.
4. At this point I am hopeful that we will be able to hold our end-of-the-year concerts as planned. Here are those dates:
Tuesday, May 18 7:00 p.m. Orchestra concert
Thursday, May 20 7:30 p.m. Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Jazz ensembles concert
5. Please communicate all conflicts with these dates before Monday, February 22.
